At Rejoice, we have a partnership in Growing Faith Together. We seek to be intentional about transmitting and cultivating faith–especially in our young people, at this crucial developmental stage of their lives. And we seek to do this together with a new approach to confirmation—one that yields far better results than the traditional approach.

With the traditional approach to confirmation classes, 75% of young people “graduated from church” on the day they were confirmed; they would cease participating with their church, and perhaps never show up again. A pretty sad state of affairs! Our goal at Rejoice is to nurture and grow a vital, lifelong faith in and among our youth. With that in mind, we’re using a new approach called “Faith Inkubators”.

This new model of confirmation ministry has been embraced and used over the past 15 years by thousands of Lutheran churches, and in these churches, the results have flipped: 75% of remain active in their churches after confirmation Sunday!

The schedule for confirmation ministry includes three types of events for seventh and eighth grade teens: Learning events, Fellowship events and Servant events. These different kinds of events provide youth with a well-rounded experience of being church and doing church together. At each event, young people spend time in small groups, caring, sharing, learning, growing, laughing and praying together.

Essential to this ministry model is an adult ministry team—made up primarily of parents. In this way, Christian servanthood is modeled for our young people…after all, faith is more “caught” than it is taught, and the number one way human beings learn is observation.

Come partner with us as we seek to grow a vital, lifelong, active faith in our youth!

When: Most Wednesday evenings, 6:30-7:30 p.m., from late August through mid-May.

Contact: Minuette or Bruce Grentz

As this is a two-year program that is part of our overall youth ministry at Rejoice, youth may begin taking part in Confirmation ministry at any point during the school year. For this model to be effective though, we do ask that they commit to being present at all scheduled events. See requirements.
